Time With The Lights – Cornwall Family Photographer
I’ve been working on updating my portfolio and, when I came across this session from last October and realised I hadn’t shared it, I knew that it was time to get this posted!
Greg and Ashley first hired me when they had three beautiful girls and number four was on the way. Their gorgeous maternity session kept me smiling for days afterwards and their daughters are just too funny, so I was thrilled when they expressed interest in having me photograph their home birth. Little did we know, Penelope was going to decide to make an especially speedy entrance on the same day that I had a wedding booked… So no birth photos (that’s why I’m taking clients for births before May and after October of this year :) ). Instead, I got to visit this family of six to document how a two week old infant fit into their days together. Turns out – impressively well!
The Lights are a close-knit unit. The girls are all close in age, play incredibly well together, have infectious energy, and love to do those weird things that kids do (like wrap their ankles around their heads) – Hawley especially! :) What made this session special was seeing how Greg and Ashley bond with their girls, through creative play as a group and quiet moments with individual girls. There’s a familiarity to tenderness that comes with having a steady flow of babies come into your life and that was really neat to see. The girls were awesome at being gentle with their new sister and showed really impressive control when balancing those wild energy spikes that little kids get and the energy level needed to be next to a newborn.
What I really loved about this session was how central the kitchen was to their playtime. Many of my favourite childhood memories involve games played in our kitchen with Mom and Dad, so seeing this gang playing all over the kitchen floor felt immediately familiar. As a bonus, Grandma was over and doing a bit of baking, so we got to add a little bit of something extra to the fun.
I’m Ang – a Cornwall, Ontario-based photographer with a passion for capturing light and photographing natural moments in life as they happen. My goal is to capture memories that you will cherish once this special time in your life has passed and you’re on to the next phase of adventures and challenges. I love meeting new families in their natural environment and getting in amongst the bedlam so that I can document the perfectly imperfect realities of daily life.
