Adam and Rachelle’s Rideau View Golf Club wedding celebrations were the embodiment of my two favourite wedding day components: a beautiful love-focused ceremony followed by a wild (and possibly inappropriate) dance floor.
These two surrounded themselves with friends who were both thoughtful *and* lively, which makes for a wonderful combination and provides for plenty of laughs. Rachelle’s junior bridesmaid was so earnest in her efforts to do her job right that she made for her own subplot as she remained focused through the day, right up until we let her pretend she was boozing with the crew after the ceremony. (I’m not one for condoning underage drinking, but letting her have her moment in the spotlight while the rest got to take a few swigs of their beverages was an opportunity too funny to pass up. ;) )
One of the truly special details of this day was Deacon Tom performing the ceremony. Adam’s father was tickled pink to be able to officiate the wedding and he did a beautiful job, but the highlight for me was the little fatherly scolding he dished out when Adam and Rachelle both got the giggles at the start of the ceremony. It was such an endearing moment, both as an expression of nerves and as a demonstration of the connection between Adam and his dad.
Having photographed Mason and Chantal’s wedding earlier that month, I wasn’t sure that dance floors would ever really compare to what we saw that night…. But I clearly hadn’t counted on Adam and Rachelle. The dance moves were big and there were both arms and legs just about everywhere (particularly given there were three separate worm performances), which meant I was in photographic heaven as I got up in the action and tried to show just how much energy everyone brought to that party. I’m still kind of surprised that no one ended up on top of the bar, if I’m being honest – or maybe they did by the end of the night.
Adam and Rachelle, thank you so much for inviting me to tell the story of your day. I had so much fun learning more about you through your friends and family and am filled with joy every time I think about your photos. Here’s a look at some of my favourites:
I’m Ang – a Cornwall, Ontario-based photographer offering wedding and documentary family coverage in Cornwall, Ottawa, Brockville and throughout SD&G. Visual storytelling is what I do best and showing my perspective on the intimate, joyful and high-energy moments in celebrations like this Rideau View Golf Course wedding is what feeds my creative soul. I love working with couples who are emotionally present on their wedding day and whose main priority is spending time laughing with loved ones.
