Have you ever really mentally logged just how much you do with your kids in a single morning or a single afternoon? Chances are, it’s A LOT. When you’re dealing with kids under 4, every new idea is the neural equivalent of bright shiny fireworks.
Now, make it two kids. And add a baby.
I joined Nathan and Chantal for this half-day session because it’s so awesome to be able to show parents how much they do for their families in a four hour period. These girls are adorable, but they’re busy. They bake, they explore, they CLIMB. They’re also enamoured with their new sister.
It was fun to be able to show Nathan and Chantal how they’re masterfully coping with managing all.the.things, but it was also so wonderful to be able to capture some really sweet moments between a big sister and her new baby sister. This session gave me a chance reflect back to them just how much joy they have in their lives, so that they have a reminder of that on the days when they want to pull out all of their hair.
Amélie, you’re in for such a thrill ride! You’re already so loved and you’ve added an extra spark to your family. You’re going to have so much fun keeping up with your sisters (get them to teach you how to climb your crib!). You’ve joined one of the most thoughtful, sweet and FUNNY families I know. I can’t wait to see the beautiful mischief you get into, baby girl!
At-home sessions take an awful lot of the stress out of getting newborn photos done. No one has to wear anything special – hell, you don’t even have to put the kids in clean clothes! There’s no worrying about who has napped or who has been fed. There’s no stress about getting kids to all pay attention at the same time – or freaking out about whether today might be the day they decide they no longer have any interest in being an older sibling and reject the new baby altogether. These documentary family sessions are as honest as they come and can be booked as a one-off session or as part of a maternity package.
