My girl Kris was pregnant with baby #2 this winter, so you’d better believe that I was excited about getting these guys back outside with her for a wintry Glengarry maternity session! You might remember this one we did a couple of years ago when she was carrying Mairyn. Things were a little different this time; with Mairyn in tow, there was no way that I was going to take any chances with getting stuck in the snow. We decided to choose a location much closer to home: their back yard. Kristin’s parents live next door and have a cedar hedge that I’m more than a little obsessed with, so we decided to get outside and see what we could do.
We hit the jackpot the day of this session. We got some beautiful late-winter sushine, along with a fluffy snowfall the night before, which really helped turn this scene into a winter wonderland.
We took our time exploring pockets of the yard and had a ball laughing together as we trudged our way through knee-deep snow. Once again, I marveled at Kris and Steve’s connection with one another and reveled in the chance to capture that on camera. Mair and Piper joined forces and added the perfect touch of unpredictability to the session (Piper photo bombed us more than once, much to my entertainment), but one thing was always perfectly predictable: Mair adores her Mama and capturing moments of them snuggled in close is never a challenge.
Finn was born in the early weeks of the pandemic, so we haven’t been able to visit without distance or a window in the way, but you’d better believe that I’m going to be snagging some cuddles and photographing these guys enjoying time with their gorgeous boy as soon as it’s safe to do so!
