Oh, Avery! I’ve been waiting a whole year in the hopes that I’d get to meet you, so I was SO excited when your mom asked if I’d join your family the day of your wintry first birthday party.
An afternoon birthday party revealed exactly what I thought: you’re every bit as delicious as I’d hoped. You’re a gentle, curious, welcoming little girl who is going to have the whole world wrapped around her little finger courtesy of that beautiful personality, winning smile and those ridiculous eyelashes.
You were surrounded by ALL.THE.BABIES. It turns out that you’re got a whole network of possible Cornwall friends growing up alongside you and they’re all as equally happy as you! Your friends helped you unwrap your birthday presents and shared snacks while everyone visited. Once the singing was over, you absolutely obliterated your birthday cupcake – although, I’m not actually sure how much made it into your mouth. :P
Along with catching lots of little baby-oriented details, it was so lovely to be able to catch several moments of you spending time with each of your grandparents. You look at your Grandpa like he’s just the best person on the planet, and that made my heart so happy.
Avery, you are the absolute pride of your parents’ lives. I can see it each time they look at you and hope that one day you’ll catch sight of that, too.
