The Edmonds Family – London Family Photographer
Anyone who followed my business through its initial stages is likely very familiar with this family. I’ve been photographing them since 2010, when Moment.us didn’t even exist yet. I’ve watched them grow to a family of four, and celebrated when they became a family of 5, back in December. John, Ceri, and their girls hold a very special place in my heart, so I was thrilled when they asked if I would come back and photograph their family one more time during my trip to London in November.
In true Toothbrush Session style, I arrived late at night and got up in time to start shooting as sleepy faces made their way into the family room. Tiana was a little unsure of what to make of being photographed so early in the day, but she quickly got past that! We went through morning play time and breakfast, with lots of laughter and a good bit of leaping off of furniture. The weather was, as you might expect of London in November, soggy, so our playtime outside was nixed in favour of a trip to the pub for hot chocolate. After being blessed with an empty pub and a table next to some gorgeous window light, I ordered possibly the strangest round of “leaving drinks” (these guys are set for an imminent move back to J&C’s native New Zealand) that I’ve ever bought: water, two coffees, and two hot chocolates – “extra chocolate, extra sprinkles, and extra marshmallows because they aren’t my kids!” ;)
What I love about spending time with these guys is that it serves as a great reminder of how many truly wonderful approaches to parenting still exist in our world. John and Ceri are realists. Kids are going to do weird things. They’re going to get dirty. They SHOULD go off exploring. Let all of it happen. (And then have me around to show what at least some of it looks like. ;) ) They love their girls in a way that has allowed a bond between sisters to flourish. Their daughters are inquisitive, thoughtful, affectionate, playful human beings who engage with the world around them – even if that means licking the windows. What more can you ask for from two children?
Here’s a selection of highlights from my sleepy Saturday morning with these guys.
I’m Ang, a Cornwall, Ontario-based family and wedding photographer, who loves capturing light and photographing natural moments in life as they happen. My goal is to capture memories that you will cherish once your children are too grown up to curl into your lap for cuddles and the house seems oddly quiet at night. I love meeting new families in their natural environment and getting in amongst the bedlam so that I can document the perfectly imperfect realities of daily life.
