Shannon & Dan – Autumnal Cornwall Engagement Session

Holeeeeeeeee man, did we ever hit the jackpot this day.

Shannon and Dan decided that they wanted to add a personal touch to their session by incorporating their own interests. They wanted something a little urban and they wanted to go for a drink to start. Perfect! The Stomping Grounds had just opened and that area offers all sorts of interesting architecture, so we met for coffee and took things from there.

We had the most incredible light that evening. The ivy on the fence line was creating a riot of colour. Shannon and Dan were relaxed and ready to have a great time. They also like to joke around, which was awesome because it keeps things sooooo chilled. I just about busted a gut when they pulled back from a cuddle and assumed the “Grade 8 dance stance.”

We started the session in the coffee shop with some casual portraits. Then Kristin stayed inside with my flash while I went outside and looked like a lunatic on the sidewalk, gesticulating wildly at a window that was just full of glare in the eyes of the passersby. Par for the course on my part, really.

Our tour through the neighbourhood led to some seemingly bizarre stops – in front of a pile of rubble; the edge of a parking lot; a storage warehouse – that really highlighted how much faith these two have in me because they never once questioned what I was doing. They just ran with whatever came next. SO AWESOME. Actually, they quite literally ran at the end of the session – up the hill in a flurry of chaos so that we could snag one final shot of them in silhouette against a perfect autumn sky.
