Cornwall Summer Engagement Session
I have been DYING to post this summer engagement session! It was over a month ago, and looking at the results still makes me feel a little giddy. :)
Last winter, Sarah and her mom came by for a bridal consultation to discuss wedding coverage and ideas. I learned about their plans and about Sarah and her fiancé, Bobby. Fast forward 6 or 7 months and I start really thinking about their engagement session, which is due to happen any time. I’m wanting to do something a little different because I get the feeling that Bobby is a little uncomfortable about the idea of doing the session. In the back of my mind, I recall something about him working with or having an interest in cars (I was right – he’s a mechanic), so I start thinking about how great it would be to do something in his garage. I had this mental picture of a ‘Beauty and the Grease Monkey” type shoot. :)
Cue the session and a little lesson in working with a couple who would be best described as “sweet with heat.” They’re SUPER cute, a little uncertain, and I’m STOKED because I know we’re on to something awesome. Bobby has done some cleaning and bought a new set of coveralls, which I think is hilarious. These promptly get thrown on the floor and stomped on to rough them up a little and I quickly set about making a bit of a mess of the now-tidy garage. This seemed to set the tone for the rest of the session – this was going to be a fun, casual session to get some steamy shots that Grandma might not approve of, and some that would make her extremely happy. It doesn’t take long before we’re getting some seriously sexy shots on Bobby’s home turf, including a bunch with the seriously cool hot rod that he built with his dad.
Once we’d had plenty of time playing around with dust, tools, cars and workbenches, we got Bobby cleaned up and headed outdoors for some slightly more classic shots. That gorgeous late-summer sun was working in our favour and we got to play around with shadows and light to round out an exceptional session. We were definitely all smiling when it was time to get into cars and head home!
These two awesome people get married real soon and I can’t wait to see what we’ll be able to create together!
Here are my top six favourites (I was aiming for top five, but it was impossible):
