Thanksgiving Sunday included time with Sophia and her beautiful Rottweiler, Ransom, for this documentary Cornwall pet photography session. Sophia hired me last year for a session with her partner, and I was so thrilled that she wanted me to come back and do this project with Ransom.
Ransom is a brute and a teddy bear; an aging family pet who is so full of personality that it feels like he’s human. He loves to watch for (and bark at) airplanes, he collects rocks when he goes on walks in the woods behind the house, garden edging is his favourite toy (I even added to his collection after my session with the family last year), and he LOVES to howl. He showed me his smiles and playful faces while Misha played camera shy (which is hilarious to see in a dog, by the way).
Sophia adores her pets and it was so apparent in the way that she happily hunkered down on the lawn to hang out with Ransom and her younger Rottie, Misha. I loved listening to her stories about their quirks and personality traits while she played with her pups.
There’s something so endearing about pet owners who really understand their animals. It brings me so much joy to photograph relationships like the one Sophia has with Ransom!
Here’s a little look at their session:
I’m Ang – a Cornwall, Ontario-based photographer with a passion for capturing light and photographing natural moments in life as they happen. My goal is to capture memories of life as it is right now for you to cherish once your life moves on to the next stage. I love meeting new families in their natural environment and getting in amongst the bedlam so that I can document the perfectly imperfect realities of daily life. Want to see more
