Nicole and Martin – Cornwall Waterfront Engagement Session
Nicole and Martin met me on the east side of town, in a very random spot not too far from Nicole’s family home. Despite booking me for their St Thomas, ON wedding next year, this was the first time that Martin and I had met, other than a brief introduction during a wedding last summer, so he had a real whirlwind introduction to my personality as we traipsed through grass and played around down by the river. Nicole, on the other hand, has known me since I coached her with the trampoline club almost two decades ago (yikes!), so it was awesome to share some laughs together as adults. :)
One of the things I love about engagements sessions – and it was certainly true during this one – is that it’s so awesome to see my couple gradually become more comfortable with my camera and how I work. Being photographed doesn’t feel natural and posing doesn’t come naturally to most people, so when I see people like Nicole and Martin settle into it and learn to connect honestly, then it’s so rewarding. And it makes me excited about the wedding. :)
This shoot had a third participant. Martin and Nicole recently adopted Cardiff, a dog with some of the best posing skills of any I’ve met (in stiff competition with Bentley). That pup knows how to give a paw at the most hilariously perfect times, as you’ll see from the photo of Nicole laughing at his paw on her hand.
