couple silhouetted in puddle and against red orange and pink sky

I’m not in the habit of chasing couples down on the back roads of SD&G, but when I do it, it’s for very good reason.

When we met for their consult, they were equally involved in the conversation. That’s something that always puts my mind at ease; working with couples who are both actively involved in the experience is so much more rewarding than the alternative. We had a great chat about family and about what mattered most to them about their wedding day, and I felt like I understood them well by the time we said our goodbyes.

Nathan and Tanya joined me for their Williamstown engagement session on an overcast autumn day when the fall colours were at their peak – a tricky fluke, given last year’s bizarre display. I quickly realised just how affectionate and playful these two are. The first photo below had me in stitches when I saw it. Asked to walk and bump hips, Nathan just about took Tanya out – but managed to do it with panache! :P

These guys are full of laughter and vibrance and a fierce love for one another, and that showed throughout our entire time together. I got the feeling that they’re really exploring life together, in all sense of meaning.

Our light during the session had been pretty dull, but just as we were meant to be finishing up, things started to change. Thankfully, they stuck with me long enough that I could work the brilliant sun into a few final frames and then we hugged and headed off. As we each took separate routes back to town, I realised that we were about to be treated to a spectacular sunset, so I began doing everything I could to reach them (I think I was even trying Facebook Messenger’s calling feature!). We raced to an empty field on the edge of town with some perfectly placed tractor tracks just in time to grab two final images that really completed their set.

I’m Ang – a Cornwall, Ontario-based photographer with a passion for capturing light and photographing the natural chemistry between couples. I love working in a natural environment and challenging myself to capture the scene in creative ways. Engagement sessions are a chance to go adventuring and they often include a starting point or idea and then we see where the evening takes us. Whether you’re looking for a Williamstown engagement session like these two or something more urban, please explore more of www.momentusstudio.com to see more examples of my work.
