Matt & Sarah – Modern Urban Cornwall Engagement Session
Matt and Sarah told me that they’d really like an urban feel to their engagement session. It should feature a) coffee and b) their Cotton Mills condo. This immediately got my attention. I LOVE when clients choose a place or activity that is meaningful to them. I REALLY love clients who decide that they want a super natural feel to their session.
So. Coffee and couch time to start, then. As well as being in great company for this session, their condo features the most beautiful light and I probably could’ve stayed there for hours. I can totally see why they love it so much. After I gracefully knocked over an espresso (sorry!) and frantically cleaned it up, I got a tour of the condo, and laughed with them while we hung out on their balcony to enjoy some late-day sun before going for a little stroll outside their building. The whole session felt so….natural. It was two people hanging out, having a coffee, and going for a walk. More of this, please, Universe. I want my life filled with these kinds of people (I’m on a roll lately!) and this kind of natural connection.
This session was such a great opportunity to highlight the renaissance that is happening in a historic building. I’ll be re-visiting the loft in February and can’t wait to get another crack at highlighting some of the details. I’d also like to say a special thank you to Pierre Giroux, the artist responsible for the giant mural in the lobby to their building. I loved the colours and textures of it and was so thrilled that it was there to provide context during this shoot!
These two have such a natural ease together. Sarah’s wide smile and Matt’s easy laughter made the session feel more like I was sitting down with my newest-oldest friends. That can only mean great things for their February wedding!
