Bob and Margot invited me to join them for an evening of family celebrations the day before their son’s wedding. They wanted to capture some simple family portraits and the festivities that surround the wedding of their son, Chris, to his fiancée, Liz. I arrived in time to document the rehearsal and stayed through the serving of a huge BBQ spread that was enough to get my stomach growling!
Rehearsal dinners are such an interesting social event. It’s a time for people who wouldn’t likely otherwise meet to spend time together and get to know one another before the celebrations really start the following day. Weddings are a time when we gather together a whole room full of people who will only be together that one time; rehearsal dinners take the most important people from that big group and bring them together in a more intimate, relaxed setting. That Friday evening tradition is really something special.
The Mosher-Nicholls gang were joined by family from far away, which made the evening extra special for Margot. Together, they ate like kings (and queens), laughed, and connected – or reconnected – with people important to Chris and Liz.
Here’s a little look at a beautiful summer evening of laughter with family at the Mosher-Nicholls’s home:
I’m Ang. I’m a Cornwall, Ontario-based family photographer with a passion for capturing light and photographing natural moments in life as they happen. My goal is to capture memories that you will cherish once your children are too grown up to depend on you for everything and the house seems oddly quiet at night. I love meeting new families in their natural environment – whether that’s a rural farm, a back yard party, or a local gymnastics lesson – and getting in amongst the bedlam so that I can document the perfectly imperfect realities of daily life.
