Oh, Harlow. You are a little person with a BIG personality!
Five weeks before your sister was born, your mom invited me to your home so that I could capture a little snapshot of what life was like during these final weeks of your life as an only child with your mom and dad. We’ve worked together lots of times before, but for your mom’s maternity session this time around, we decided that a documentary session would be lots of fun.
When I arrived, you were just finishing chowing down on your apple and then it was playtime. Actually, it was playtime while you were chowing down on your apple. It seems to be playtime pretty much all the time for you. :P You played peek with your dad across the room, using the edge of the wall; you tested your limit with some hands-free rollin’ on your ladybug; you took more delight than I realised was possible in playing with your spiky balls. Annnnnd you had a meltdown….or six. That’s the reality of your life, sometimes, right? Everything is awesome, then it isn’t, and then it is again.
Your mom has still got a lot of hustle in her step. Just because your baby sister is busy growing, doesn’t mean your mom is slowing down! While your sister grows, your mom spends her time making you yummy meals, laughing with you during bathtime and playtime, and has a beautiful evening routine with you and your books in your armchair. Lots of Moms worry that they don’t know how they’re going to find room in their hearts to love a second baby as much as they love their first one, but I have no doubt that your mom has more than enough love to share between you and your sister.
Since there isn’t too much time left before we get to meet her, here’s a little glimpse of what your life is like as an only child:
I’m Ang – a Cornwall, Ontario documentary family photographer with a passion for capturing light and photographing natural moments in life as they happen. My goal is to capture memories that you will cherish once your children are too grown up to curl into your lap for cuddles and the house seems oddly quiet at night. I love meeting new families in their natural environment and getting in amongst the bedlam so that I can document the perfectly imperfect realities of daily life.
