Katrina & Colleen – Peterborough Engagement Session
OH.MY.GOODNESS. These two get married in TWO DAYS and I’m so excited!
When Katrina and Colleen got in touch about their Williamstown wedding, we had our first chat via FaceTime. I learned that Henry (their Beagle-Bassett) was going to be their ring bearer, that one of their dads was in the wedding party and that these two are one of the most adorable couples ever. Little did I know that their Peterborough engagement session would just further confirm this.
We wanted to do an especially personalised engagement session, so I met up with the girls at Sam’s Place. Sam’s is a wonderfully quirky little downtown diner, full of character and owned by the amazing Sam (not a coincidence ;) ), who let us take over the place before the evening cyclist group came in. (Sam’s staff also happen to make an exceptional pastrami sandwich, if you’re wondering, and their daily specials make my stomach growl.) Sam’s Place is one of Katrina and Colleen’s favourite spots, which made it a great starting point. From there, we headed to Jackson Creek Park to splash around in the creek. It was beautiful and relaxed – and it was HOT outside! Everyone needs a spot to cool off when the mercury is soaring, so we all jumped at the chance to get our feet wet.
What I very quickly realised about these two is that it is SO EASY to capture photos of them laughing. They spend more time doing that than anything else! :) Capturing honest emotion makes what I do so much more meaningful; it makes everything that I see make sense. These two started out comically awkward (Katrina, I think I can still here that hilarious noise you made when I took the first photo!), which really set the tone because it gave us something to laugh about and made them realise that laughter is totally expected during my sessions. Two hours later, we were still laughing as we parted ways in the parking lot. :)
Saturday’s forecast might be a little grim, but it’s not going to matter for two people who smile through anything. We’re going to pick somewhere dry for portraits and laugh our way through them because that day is going to be un.for.gettable.
I’m Ang. I’m a Cornwall, Ontario-based photographer passionate about capturing light and photographing my couples’ natural chemistry. Natural settings and relaxed people are definitely my jam. I’m totally in love with capturing a scene differently for couples who really trust me. Please explore more of www.momentusstudio.com to see more examples of Ontario engagement sessions.
