I didn’t realise quite how many favourites I had from this visit with Megan and the girls for their Iroquois family photos until I had to pick some out to put here.
The original plan for this session was to head to Mille Roches Beach, but weather and beach restrictions meant things were a little less certain than either of us liked. Megan told me about the Iroquois farm they were staying at and that seemed like it might be a perfect option for a documentary family session – and we were right.
What a hilarious evening! What child doesn’t want their summer vacation with the chickens and goats and kittens and turkeys caught on camera?! Dave, their dapper 12 year old dog, was also a quiet companion throughout the session. This guy has been a feature in several sessions along the way and he’s every bit as charming in his old age as he was back then – bowtie and all.
This session provided me with all kinds of creative opportunities, but the best thing about it was catching up with this family who have been part of the Moment.us family since its very inception. Mila was one of my very first newborns, way back when the “studio” was in Mom and Dad’s basement. Seeing Megan as a mom to these growing girls was so much fun. She handled hangry meltdowns, sibling rivalry, curious goats, and clawing kittens not only with ease, but also with the humour that comes from understanding your children. It made my heart so happy to spend time with these three as they explored the farm and laughed together.
Here’s a look at how we spent our time together:
