The Harrigan Kids – Cornwall Outdoor Family Session
Suzanne wanted photos of her kids. Real photos. Not portraits. What better place to get those than at the park? So, we planned their little Cornwall outdoor family session around some of their favourite activities. I was so excited to see these guys again that I showed up early. Two weeks early, to be exact. I laughed about it, but it was also lucky, since their original (favourite) location ended up being closed for the season. Instead, we planned their little outdoor family session for Lamoureux Park.
We spent a full morning enjoying the early-September sun. We ate ham and Timbits on a blanket and ran through the splash pad. We climbed and slid our way around the playground. We hunted down and fed the ducks. Much to our delight, a Labour Day fair was happening in Lamoureux, so we also got to explore a firetruck, do some dancing, and hit the inflatable obstacle course a time or six(teen).
So much activity led to one of my favourite child activities: the meltdown. Parents, know that I’m with you when this happens. They’re mortifying, and a nuisance. As a photographer, I also happen to think they’re hilarious. The body contortions, the sounds – even just the cause – they’re all so representative of life with little ones.
All of this sounds so…normal… right? Yep. It is. Well, maybe not the firetruck. :P But if you’ve got children who like to play and who are prone to meltdowns, we should really talk. I think we could make something great together. :)
Susan, thanks for having me along for an awesome morning with your kids – and thanks for keeping it real!
Here’s what a morning at the park looks like for this little family:
