The great thing about a winter birthday is that it means a baby’s eight-month session – one of my most favourite photo sessions to do – can happen during the height of the fall colour change. Luckily for me, I had a too-cute-for-words lineup ready to roll when the time came.
First up is Jack, who joined me with his gorgeous family for a session that made me laugh. Jack is SO expressive and such a happy camper, but it became pretty clear that big brother Brady was running this show that day. :) We had a great time walking along pathways and through the trees, and it was wonderful to do a session with these four after having just worked with Chris’s whole family the previous weekend. I love working with this family, so seeing them twice in 8 days was a real treat.
Following close on the Harrisons’ heels was Isabella and her salt-of-the-earth parents, Simon and Laura. This family’s session was very nearly postponed because of some rain, but I’d noticed a trend for brief showers that led to beautiful evenings, so we hedged our bets and stuck it out. It was a chilly evening, but these guys completely rocked their session. Bella saved some of her best smiles for when she was wrapped up in Mom’s arms, which makes total sense as far as I’m concerned, but what I really love about this little tot is her inquisitiveness – when she looks at my lens, it feels like she’s working on figuring out how the world works. And I suppose, she is, in a sense. It’s always great to see this new little family, and that gloriously sunny evening was certainly no exception.
Riley is my one exception in this blog post because she led the charge as my “senior” at 10 months. :) This little girl has been a superstar time and again, so getting to see her break out in smiles for me on Thanksgiving Sunday was such a great way to spend a morning. Josh and Kelsey simply adore their daughter, and it shows in everything they do with her, as well as in how incredibly happy this little girl is. Hanging out in the grass that morning certainly didn’t feel like work!
Parker Grisé has the most ridiculously captivating blue eyes and wildest hair of just about any baby I’ve worked with. The bonus: he’s got the personality to match. Sessions with Chelsea and Dan are always a hoot; we seem to have very similar senses of humour, Chelsea is a stunner to photograph, and that baby just makes “work” so easy!
And finally we have Cosmas, whose session happened on that absurdly warm Tuesday following Thanksgiving, meaning that we got to bask in some afternoon sunshine while we worked. This guy cracks me up with his many expressions, and I can’t help but fall in love with the fact that he held out on showing off most of his big smiles until the very end of our time together – such a player! Working with Tara and Mod is a guaranteed laugh because of their wry humour and this day was certainly no exception. :)
