Ten short days (well, maybe ten long days, if you were Julia and had to cope with the heat) before they welcomed their newest family member, I joined the Arthur family for a Saturday morning session at their home.
Yet again, the biggest joys are often the simplest, and this session was beautifully simple. The girls had breakfast, did some colouring, got dressed, played soccer with Dad, headed to the park to play on the swings and the monkey bars, before making rock birthday cakes and heading home.
In the moments in between, though, I saw a family that is nurturing growth and that cherishes time together. I saw a little girl who decided that black is the best marker colour. I saw a Dad who loves to be silly with his daughters. I saw a Mom who wasn’t about to let a 39-week pregnancy slow her down or stop her from playing with her kids. I saw a big sister who is learning to be daring, thanks to the support and encouragement of her parents. I saw two girls who just adore hanging out with Mom and Dad.
Here’s a little peek into my time with Julia, Jordan and their daughters.
I’m Ang – a Cornwall, Ontario documentary family photographer with a passion for capturing light and photographing natural moments in life as they happen. A two hour documentary family mini-session like this one is a great way to capture a glimpse of your family’s history and to get a taste of what documentary family photography is all about. My goal is to capture memories that you will cherish once your children are too grown up to curl into your lap for cuddles and the house seems oddly quiet at night. I love meeting new families in their natural environment and getting in amongst the bedlam so that I can document the perfectly imperfect realities of daily life.
