We made it to Wellington just in time to catch a ferry that was running 20 mins late. Ferries are funny places. Full of tourists, most of whom are wandering around with SLRs they undoubtedly don’t know how to use (harsh, perhaps, but I used to be one of those myself), all hoping for “the” shot but inevitably taking snap after snap of far-reaching blue skies and blue seas – maybe with a bit of cloud thrown in for good measure. Parents sit quietly, pens in hand, lips moving silently as they muddle through the puzzle pages in the daily papers, relishing the moments of calm while their children, roaming freely in their giant floating playpen, explore the nooks and crannies in hopes of finding adventure on the sea. Everyone is just passing time.
Total sunburns: Still 2.25
Grateful for: zoom lens, calm seas (Rich gets sea sick), late boats
