Stephanie and Jacob’s autumn Stone Crop Acres Vineyard wedding was a beautifully memorable one, from plenty of tears to unforgettable sunlight.
Steph’s breathtaking exchange with her dad as he got his first look at his daughter meant that Kristin and I both wiped our own tears away for the first of many times that day. In between tears and tight hugs, Gord took in all of the details of his daughter on her wedding day.
As Gord and Steph moved down the aisle and the tears flowed again, I quietly watched Jacob struggle to maintain his composure. His chin quivered and he averted his eyes, creating one of those unexpected and unforgettable wedding details that gave me a just that little bit more insight into his character and an understanding of just how much this wedding meant to him.
After the ceremony, Jacob and his mom clung to each other for a full nine seconds (I checked the timestamps ;) ) – one of the longest and most tender hugs we’ve ever photographed, and then he and Steph proceeded to have a similar exchange with his grandmother. Seeing a bride and groom making time for moments like these instead of rushing on to the next thing is what makes a day so special.
Steph’s brother, Nick, is in California and couldn’t make it across the border for the wedding, so when I saw Andrew standing up during speeches with his phone, I knew who must be on the other end. Catching Nick onscreen was one of those little surprises I was so excited to be able to include in their gallery as a reminder to both Nick and Steph that he was, indeed, with them on that day.
Stephanie and Jacob, thank you for making room to share special moments with your family and remembering what was important to you. Thank you for showing your heart amidst all of the things that happen throughout a wedding day and sharing laughter with each other and the people you both love so dearly.
