Ashlynn
Your birth story was full of excitement. You joined the world in a whirlwind of activity in Cornwall on a quiet September night. You looked like you were going to take your time and then you decided to let everyone know that you needed to come. RIGHT NOW. Maybe that’s a sign of things to come for you. Who knows?
I spent some time with all of your grandparents, waiting for news that you’d arrived safely. There was laughter and conversation and undertones of anxiety while they waited to hear that you were healthy and your mom was safe. Their first glimpses of you were in photos sent by your dad and I watched as they quietly took in every detail of you and celebrated your existence.
Because your mom was in recovery, you got some extra time with your dad before the three of you were reunited. He was so wonderfully uncertain when you came into his life. He wanted to badly to comfort you when you were crying and he started working right away on learning how best to soothe you even though he was so tired he could barely stay upright.
When your grandparents got to join you, they were just SO excited. They couldn’t wait to hold you and get a look at your pile of strawberry blond hair! There was a moment when your dad was holding you in a chair and your grandma leaned over and rested her head on the top of the chair so that she could soak you in. I thought my heart would burst.
The evening that you came into the world was full of special details. The way that your dad touched you so gently while you cried; seeing him feed ice chips to your exhausted mom and touch her hand while she quietly took in all of the energy in the room; watching your grandpa look at your mom with so much pride and admiration; witnessing tears sparkle in the corners of your grandma’s eyes when she looked at you.
You’re so loved, Ashlynn! My hope is that it’s already evident in these photos and that you grow up to see how much love is around you every day.
Welcome to this big ol’ world of ours, baby girl.
I’m Ang – a photographer with a passion for capturing light and photographing natural moments in life as they happen. My goal is to capture memories that you will cherish once your children are too grown up to curl into your lap for cuddles and the house seems oddly quiet at night. I love meeting new families in their natural environment and getting in amongst the bedlam so that I can document the perfectly imperfect realities of daily life. Whether you’re looking for photos of your child’s Cornwall birth story or you’re planning to deliver in Winchester or Ottawa, I’d love to speak with you about how photography may enhance your birth experience.
