Cos & His Family – Ontario Family Photojournalism
This family have been part of my life since 2013, when I photographed Tara and Mod’s wedding. Since then, my time with them has always brought a smile to my face, courtesy of Mod’s wry humour and Tara’s easy laugh.
This time, though, was a special one. Cosmas was in his final weeks as an only child; Harry and Bev had both undertaken major health and fitness overhauls that have left them both looking fabulous; and Tara was carrying baby #2 with gusto.
I don’t know how many times I’ve gone on – or could go on – about the joy I find in documenting grandparents. It’s one of my very favourite things. So, an entire documentary session devoted to a little boy and his time with his grandparents… I was in heaven. My favourite moment from this session was most certainly watching Bev get down (and back up) on the ground to make snow angels – something that she couldn’t have done when we first met! Harry was so diligent in obeying Cos’s requests for “sleigh” rides in the shovel. I think that child probably could’ve done laps out there for hours. Fortunately, his attempts at “shovel surfing” and the resulting face plant didn’t end in disaster – just a lot of laughter from me. There are little moments, too, that I just loved watching unfold. Pinching Grandma’s face, holding hands during grace, dancing in the window during my departure….
Tara, thanks for asking me to do this for you. It was such a thrill to watch your family relationships in such a natural way.
Here are some favourites from my time with three generations of Taylors:
I’m Ang. I’m a photographer with a passion for capturing light and photographing natural moments in life as they happen anywhere in the world. My goal is to capture memories that you will cherish once your children are too grown up to curl into your lap for cuddles and the house seems oddly quiet at night. I love meeting new families in their natural environment and getting in amongst the bedlam so that I can document the perfectly imperfect realities of daily life.
