I am so excited that more and more clients are getting on board with the idea of a lifestyle shoot! When Shannon and Christian got in touch, their son was already 6 weeks old, so I suggested that I visit them in their home and get photos of them interacting with Titan.
Little did I know I was about to walk into a photographer’s playground. Ideally placed mirrors and lots of reflective surfaces, vibrant colours, and quite a lot of natural light all made for a great session in terms of aesthetics, but it really all came together when I started to watch how Shannon and Chris played with Titan. These two are so smitten with their son! There was no need to coach them on how the session would work. Once I told them that we’d just move through the house and they’d get to spend time cuddling and playing with Titan, that was it – they practically seemed to forget I was there and just settled in to enjoy little moments of tenderness together. It was heartwarming to see them chatter away with their son, trying to put a smile on his face while he gazed up at them. One of my favourite moments of the whole shoot was when Shannon was feeing Titan; Chris sat on the couch alongside them, playing with Titan’s foot. Little gestures like this are what being a new family is all about.
When we were doing photos in Shannon and Chris’s bedroom, they mentioned that one of their cats had taken over Titan’s bassinette. Keep an eye out for the image of Titan on Christian’s lap on the bed – you can see two little eyes poking through the handle hole in the background. :)
