As I said in my last post, I was so excited to be able to get back to shooting in natural light outdoors! I love my studio and what I’m able to create by working with it, but it seems like a looooooooooong time since I was last able to work with children in a natural setting. Imagine my delight, then, when Jessica and I took Ben for an early-morning session in a tiny little clearing with the sun poking between the pines.
Ben and I last worked together back in November for a Christmas mini – although, I’m not sure Ben really has any idea it ever happened, since he slept through almost the entire session! It was awesome to see the changes in this little guy; faces take on so much character between 2 and 7 months, as infants become babies who are aware of their surroundings and of their own movements. Ben has been working hard at mastering sitting up, and has got it pretty nearly down to a science – with the occasional setback:
Understandably, there was some initial wariness of the camera and I got a few good stare-downs, but this little dude has the most charming smile and he could only keep it hidden for so long! Here are some of my favourites from our time together:
