THAT'S US!

We're Kristin and Ang. We're playful, bust-a-move-to-get-the-job-done sorts who will laugh with you through your wedding day (and probably cry at least twice). We hope you have a good chuckle while learning more about what makes us tick.

Moment.us Photography gathers with clients on the unceded traditional lands of the Haudenosaunee and Kanien’keháka people, who have lived here since time immemorial. We’re grateful to live and work in their territory and aim to create a safe and inclusive space for people of all sexual, gender and racial identities. We celebrate relationships and human connection in all their many forms and look to work with those who share similar values.

Ang, the owner of Moment.us Photography, is a wife, photographer, passionate cook, bibliophile, prosecco drinker. She’s working on perfecting those skills in that order, but sometimes sparkling wine takes priority – because, you know, sometimes Tuesday deserves a celebration. She has a love of bonfires, a profound hatred of socks, and zero sense of direction (which combines with her love of travel in endlessly exciting ways). Want to get to know her a little more? Read below!

Kristin joined Moment.us in 2016 and continues to second shoot with Ang, but she’s now also the face behind Sweetbrier Weddings, our sister brand that caters to those looking for a different edit and a simpler day. She’s Mom to Mairyn, Finn, and Rowan; wife to Steve; devoted dog lover (and owner of Laddie, a delightful golden retriever); and a kindergarten teacher who LOVES to read. She also lives right across the road from her parents and, as a Glengarry girl, she bleeds plaid. She approaches weddings the same way she approaches time spent with her gorgeous children: with honesty, a sense of humour and more than the occasional squeal of glee. Ang: Fact # 1

I have a borderline-unhealthy love for cheese. Our cheese drawer is always embarrassingly (but lovingly) well-stocked. Comte, Lankaaster, Emmental, and applewood smoked cheddar are my long-time loves and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate them onto cheese plates.

Fact # 2

I was a boisterous, playful child who loved mornings (and had a questionable fashion sense), but I grew up to be a playful introvert who likes to wake up early and have quiet time with a book and mug of tea or coffee.

Fact # 3

I'm a climber. And I tend to hide in bushes. When I work with you, it's not uncommon to find me standing on top of your couch, chair, countertop, swingset, or standing awkwardly while tangled in some branches with my camera in hand.

Fact # 6

I loooooove to cook. I also have no sense of smell. Confusing, right? I particularly love Asian cuisines, probably because they emphasise a balance in flavours specific to the regions of your taste buds. That doesn't stop me from having strong opinions about zucchini and avocado, though (I think they're evil and best avoided). I also adore making pasta and bread.

Fact # 4

Photography was not my first job. I was a high school teacher for eight years and before that, I had a number of unusual jobs, including being a trampoline coach, picking watermelons on a farm in northern Australia (with this Welshman who became my husband), and working in the stone lab at a local quarry.

Kristin: Fact # 1

I met Stephen in the halls of Char-Lan and we've been together since we were 15. Ang photographed our 2015 wedding!

Fact # 2

There are 10 seasons and 236 episodes of Friends. I've watched every one of them. Chandler is my favourite - we both wear our heart on our sleeve and appreciate a good bubble bath.

Fact # 3

Sometimes (okay, a lot of times), I snort when I laugh.

Fact # 4

While I spent my childhood avoiding chores, I now look forward to waking up early Saturday mornings and cleaning (though I dread doing laundry!).

Fact # 5

There's no such thing as too warm. I love socks and cozy sweaters, and turning the seat heater on in the car on the way home from summer weddings. I'll HAPPILY hold (read: wear) your coat for you if you have to get rid of it during portraits!

Fact # 6

I love the anticipation of something nearly as much as the event itself; sketching out our dream home, planning our next road trip or looking forward to photographing a wedding… there is wonder in the waiting!

Where in the world....?

Ang usually has a couple of trips planned at any given time (and a few great ideas stored in the wish list), and she's eagerly getting back on the road after a too-long travel hiatus. Whether you're curious about where she's off to because you want to follow along on Instagram or because you're hoping to book a session while she's in your area, this is the place to watch.
