2013 was a year for making progress – returning from new adventures and settling into a new location, a new HOME, and wonderful new clients (not to mention some awesome returning ones!). My 2013 business year started with a beautiful wedding and worked it’s way to a close with several gorgeous sessions: a maternity shoot, a newborn, and a hectic-but-hilarious family session. Doesn’t get much more balanced than that!
2014 is set to be my best year yet after getting started with some exciting new wedding contracts, a hockey tournament (!), some incredible professional development in the form of Mystic Seminars’ AWESOME professional wedding workshop line-up in Connecticut at the end of this month, and a definitely-not-insignificant investment in a new lens this morning.
So I thought, with all this great news coming my way, what better way to start off my year’s posts than with a beautiful session that makes me gush every time I think about it? Josh and Kelsey joined me in November for a great little maternity session and then welcomed Riley into the world several weeks later. Their session started out a little rough with Riley feeling a little unsettled, and I could tell that Josh and Kelsey were nervous that it might not pan out the way they’d hoped. Riley and I stuck it out, though, and after a little feeding time, Riley settled into what became an absolute DREAM session – both for Riley and for me. Riley settled into a milk-drunk stupor like an absolute pro and, while I don’t know what on earth she was dreaming about, I do know that her smiles became so regular that she made it almost impossible to end the session. It was so difficult to resist the urge to keep taking shots of this little beauty, but I knew we had so many great shots that choosing favourites was already going to be nearly unthinkable.
Here are just a few of my favourites taken from our time together, just days before this new little family celebrated a magical first Christmas together.
